    Hi Rob,

    It's possible they coated the brass fittings with a lacquer that didn't take the silvering chemical reaction during the finishing of the reverse, thus sparing these areas? That way the finishing could have occurred after the crimping. I notice that in the example from DN posted by Frank there is finish on the catch.
