Hi Brian I will go out on a limb and say has a good chance, however the pin looks mishapen, or is that the angle of the pictures? The reverse colour, basically I am cant make out what colour it is Silver or bluey grey? If its silver its one of the earlier zink ones. Any chance of a front shot. Here' mine if you would like to compare

the front could make all the difference, really need a closer look at the mm and colouration of the reverse also

The top right wing on the one you show, shows a silver finish yet the rest looks a bluey grey which would not be correct? All in all better closer pics are really needed, all the best

I belive that it is an early Zink.

But have you seen that type of neddle and split before?

                Hi Brian,

I agree with you and Gary that on these photos it looks like a good Schwerin zinc badge which seems to have been hand vaulted. The pin looks good, but I guess you're asking about the domehead hinge-block pin? I'm not sure what you mean by "split"?

Certainly Schwerin used domehead pins on their badges, so I wouldn't assume it was a replacement. Can you show sharp closeups of the hingeblock from both sides, and it's domehead pin?

                Best regards,
                ---Norm

Hi Brian looks good to me from those pictures, Schwerin used those domed rivits on other awards, maybe using up, or mixed up oldstock, nothing unusual

I only recall seeing the domed-head hingepin on "early" tombak Schwerin awards.
I have looked but cannot find this type of hingepin on a Schwerin zinc award,
                    not that they don't exist.
So perhaps and original zinc Schwerin Minesweeper with a replaced hingepin,or as mrg suggested, leftover stock from tombak production?
Still,a good zinc Schwerin badge IMO.

                    Regards,Martin.

Yes. I was talking about the domehead.

Here is some new close up pictures. I hope these can help!

                          Hi Brian,

Nice closeups! I'd say that hinge-pin is original to the badge -- it looks like it's always been there.

                          Best regards,
                          ---Norm

The whole badge and its appearence look just fine to me to. Maybe a transition piece with the last of the dome headed pins.
