A person carried these into the Flonheim military show today. I realize that these are not badges but may be of some interest. This is a tile which I have seen before and is for a U-Boot Flotille.

Hi Jim,
I really like your two items made by the firm Henriot in Quimper - France.
Two nice souvenirs made during the war.
I do know the tile, but the plate-server/tray is unknown to me, but of a beautiful quality.
Will be very happy with such items in my colletion.
Thanks for showing them here.
yours friendly

So, I will elaborate to my concerns. Seeing the name Quimper, I did a search. Here is a link showing factory marks.
http://www.oldquimper.com/qfactmarks1.htm
There is the white line that progresses from the 11 o'clock position to the 5 o'clock position. Now flaws and such are allowed and are not necessarily to lead to a negative opinion.
These were the most obvious things I saw. This is why I gave my opinion and was a bit skeptical.
Glad to see others have given their thumbs up to these pieces; there experience is greater than mine. I am just providing concern and gain perhaps clarification to these items posted.
Thanks and regards,
JustinG

I know the tile and had one years ago in my collection when I collected U-Boot but have never seen the plate. They came from a reputable collector here in our area who inserts in the paper and only buys direct from the families (he has had some amazing items in the past and some of my best photos come from him). I also have army tiles and have seen Luftwtwaffe as well as other Kriegmarine unit emblems- on occasion framed and given as a present to unit members (frequently signed personally by the company commander). I have also had Dutch, period made mugs and other ceramic items (some in Delft patter) made for various occupation units. These producers of ceramics and other items had to sell something to stay above water during the occupation and it is a whole collectors field just to consider the foreign-made products produced during the war.

Quite true. I like the Dutch plate in this thread:

Kapitan z.S. Merten, commander U-68 had a small coffee table made using these tiles with the various U-Boat insignia. He told me that they were sold one year as christmas presents for the folks back home. He bought one of every boat in his flottilla. The table was suppose to be donated to the U-Boat Archive, so you may want to enquire further there. I'll do some digging and see if I can find a picture of it to post.

I found this interesting link to You-Tube which shows pieces of ceramic being dug, apparently at the old factory:
