Is this a Repair on this Minesweeper Badge?

Hello, is this a repair job on this zink, R.S. Minesweeper Badge? If so, can you tell if it is period repair? If you look at the hinge and the catch you can see what appears to be some sort of glue.

    Thanks,
    John

      Hi John,

I can´t see on the images if this is solder or glue. Sometimes there is some sort of fluxard used to solder the hardware, these remnants also appear clear like glue. But from these pictures it is impossible to tell. Maybe you could provide some shots with natural daylight with a neutral background(or wait for some other opinions, maybe my eyes are not the best).

      Regards,

      Daniel

        Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the substance that is around the base of the catch and pin are clear. Here is another picture that hopefully will show what I am talking about. So if I read your post correctly you are saying that this is a normal part of the process of attaching the pin and catch?

If it is glue then imo defiitely post-war. I'd guess the original hardware fell off from poor storage or a drop incident and has been glued back on.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!
