    It is a fake imo. It is the system and the needle plate. These are only found on Schwerin zincers, not on the tombak pieces.

                  Yes, definitely a zincer. It looks OK to me. The catch is a bit messy but, like the hinge, retains the correct original gilt finish. Double striking of the obverse around the main guns is a good sign in this case.

                    The S-Boot badge that started this thread is a fake,IMO.The badge posted by Phil is original.
                    The FO Fleet badge is also a good original zincer,of the type with the soldered reverse fittings.

                      Mike, That's an interesting point mate...Is this a fairly typical feature on the late zincer Fo's?

                        Which point? The double striking? If so, no, not common imo, at least on Fo's that I recall. It's a good sign of genuine die striking though, whereby the badge has jumped/moved slightly between blows. The feature is not that uncommon on tombak Schwerin HSFs though.
