    Highly-decorated e-boat maat!

anyone recognize this VERY well-decorated one-stripe torpedoman?
I hear it was very unusual for a man of this low rank to get the EKI. he also has the EKII, WB, krim shield and e-boat badge.

also I hope someone can translate the name on the back of one of the fotos this came with. thanks!

                Remember.

If an E-Boat man happened to be wounded while serving in the Crimea (Black Sea), he would receive the Wound Badge, AND the E-Boat Badge, AND the Krimschild, just on account of the wound.

Did this Krimschild not only apply to the campaign earlier in the war or also the evacuation in 1944?

That pic is a real looker. The name says "Gerhard Gensch" I believe...

                        Great photo!

no one's mentioned it yet but the date on the back is not the date the photo was taken.

The EKI was not unusual at all for NCOs of the KM. Especially not for those ships, boats or units that saw a fair bit of action and the 1 S-Fl. to which he belonged was VERY active in the black sea.

IMO the back of the photo says Gerhard Gursch on the first line and photograph or exposure on the second line with the date on the third one.

                          Hope it helps
