I have never seen a buckle more mint than the first two you showed.

            Nice!

              Here's my contribution...

Like the OP I've had these KM items for years but finally decided to group them together and frame them this year. Most of these items came from the U-805 but a few others (soldbuch, u-boat badge, talley) were added later to make the grouping more complete. These souvenirs are unusual in that they were "liberated" here in America rather than Europe. The U-805 was one of 8 uboats that surrendered at the end of the war and were escorted to the Portsmouth Naval shipyard in Portsmouth, NH. The lot came from a woman in Maine whose father worked at the shipyard during the war and who presumably took them from crewmembers of the 805.

Here's the tunic of Konteradmiral Rufus, commander of the "Konigsberg' (sunk by British bombers, and of the "Niobe" (pre-war training ship sunk in a sudden storm with the loss of 50 naval cadets, "the flower of the new Navy", Germany's greatest peacetime naval loss). He was brought before a Court of Enquiry, but exonerated after Count Luckner (the former commander) testified that Rufus "could have done nothing" to prevent the tragedy. The German Navy still today conducts a memorial service on the anniversary date of the sinking.
