    E-boat L/18

    Hi,

What do you guys think about this badge?
I looked true the old threads and couldn’t find
any information on e-boat badge made by B.H.Mayers.

    Thanks

    Alik

        Hi Alik. Very interesting.

I have never seen one before, but just looking at the badge you have posted here I must say that I like what I see. Good details and nice quality construction.

Just went through my files and found this scan of an "L/18" minesweeper. Same hinge plate, catch and pin. The E-Boat is looking very good to me. I have never seen Mayer listed as a maker of the E-boat so this could be a very rare badge.

          Other opinions?

            Hi Alik,

Definitely a good one and a rare maker for these badges.

Here is a picture of the only example I have in my files.

I agree with Lorenzo and Philippe, rare, rare, rare and all the typical features of a L/18 Kriegsmarine badge, maker mark included. A good catch indeed, I am jealous!

Here is a similar L/18 setup on a Minesweeper from my collection, the same kind of badge Lorenzo has in his files:

Not bad for a local gun show!

                    Alik,

Looks like you made out pretty good! Congratulations!

I have also seen an L/18 U-boat badge. If memory serves me correct it had the same style pin and hinge assembly.

That´s correct, Sir John. To be exact, there are Buntmetall and zink U-Boats by L/18, the zinkers have the exact same catch and hingeplate setup as the E-Boats and Minesweepers.

                            Hello
there is a chance to purchase E-Boat L/18 and I went through the Forum.
So, I'm disappointed. Because of in my case it is 1st pattern bearing another style m.m.
Have no idea about set up system.

What will be your thoughts ?
                            Good Luck.
                            Alex.

100% original, with the Weidmann style hardware that can be found once in a while on Mayer badges. A rare piece for sure. best wishes,
