    Hi all,

what is your opinion about this destroyer badge ? A friend of me brought it to me and asked me if I could sell it. Iam not familliar with this maker so at first the question is, is it a real one ?

    Thanks Jens

I don't like the obverse of your badge at all, but the reverse looks like a match to an original (when picture by picture comparison)

Thanks for your opinion. I didnt liked obvers as well, but maybe its heavily polished ? The backside is an exact match to an example found in D. Niemanns catalogue.

                  Any more input ?

                  Thanks Jens

I think this is a good one, just polished and or heavily worn or both. Top pin broken of course but everything else looks OK.

                    Like to get other opinions.

                      Hi Jens,

My concerns are that this might be a very good casting of an original. The hardware looks good as does the maker's mark I think, but the details are very soft and there are those little pits/holes that are often an indication of casting. I also think it is a little too brassy for my tastes.

Do a search here and try to come up with some good comparison shots to bounce this one against and wait for some more members to chime in. I would be very careful at this point though.

I am with Tim Ball. The obverse screams out casting to me. I would pass on this one.
                        best wishes,

I agree with John that this could well be a good, well-worn or polished badge...But, as observed, my concern is with the pitting...enough to call a pass on it as a questionable piece IMHO.
                          Cheers, Steve

For now, I still think it is a period badge. Side by side attached. Do I love it, no. I admit, without have the measurements and weights, it does look a bit smaller in the cutouts.

Well worn and probaly polished. Still, it looks ok to me. The "pitting" looks more like scarring from being worn or tossed about. The reverse is spot on.
