    Your opinions on 3 KM Kriegsabzeichen

    Dear fellow forumites,

    I would like to hear your opinions on 3 different badges:

    1st: Flotten-Kriegsabzeichen, maker marked RS&S (Richard Simm & Söhne, Gablonz a.d.N.), Width: 43.7 mm, Height: 57.3 mm (with eagle), Weight: 33.6 g

              Hi Claudio,


              IMO The L18 destroyer and the FLL Coastal Arty are ok.

              The RS&S I'm not so sure about. Looks convincing but obverse design and certainly the reverse setup isn't what you would expect to see on these badges.

                Dear Claudio,

                The RS&S HSF badge is a known high end fake. The wrong setup and material (modern high quality metal) are the instant giveaways. Besides, the pin which should be very sturdy bends to the left and right easily. This one is still sold successfully as an original.

                The L/18 Destroyer is definitely ok.

                The FLL CAB could also be ok although these usually have better detail and no pockmarks on the reverse. It could be just a sloppy badge, but check it against my example, e.g. compare the eagle detail. The different catch might be just a variation, normally these are of round wire stock, like on my example.
