    HSF from f.o.

    Hi friends!!!

I want to buy for my HSF Schwerin an brother and I have the chance to buy this HSF badge from f.o. in an auction. I have my doubts on this badge, because I´ve never seen an HSF f.o. in such a good condition. What do you think real or not??? If real, what is a fair price for this badge?

    Regards

    Thomas

Seems to fit the bill for an FO variant HSF, one thing that looks odd to me though. Usually on these FO badges it is the wreath that appears to show wear the most with the ship remaining a dark slate colour. Here we have the wreath almost pristine and the ship show signs of wear. Also that wash effect on the reverse looks odd. Does the detail on the obverse seem weak to others?

          Regards,

          Mark

IMO it is an original FO variant with the soldered reverse fittings.I have seen that small "+" above the mm on other originals.
However,i am not too sure about the finish on this one?

            Regards,Martin.

I see a good HSF - variant with typically hook and golden finish!

                Hello Thomas,

I think the badge itself is original, but I would prefer to see straight on shots of both the front and reverse. I must also agree with the doubts expressed by you, Mark, and Martin concerning the gold finish. As mentioned, the excellent condition of the gold finish on the front does not seem to go with the worn condition of the battleship. It looks very suspicious to me. I also feel that the gold finish on the reverse looks phony (looks like deliberate, artificial aging, not natural wear and fading).

                Best regards,
                Tom

Look at this golden finish of the Destroyer by F.O.
Its the same like the HSF.

                    Hello Sascha,

That is a great looking finish on the reverse of that Destroyer Badge! Can we see a picture of the front of that one?

The finish on your Destroyer Badge strikes me as real beyond any doubt. It looks naturally worn and aged. The finish on that HSF does not, unless it is just bad pictures.

                    Best regards,
                    Tom

Would agree the one one shown originally looks as if it has been wiped and dabbed at once the finish has been applied, does not look like natural wear to me, in areas the wear is almost in a straight diagonal line, which would not occur.

Well, i am sure the pictures of the HSF "plays games" with us. They have a touch of yellow......

can take any pictures with a white background and daylight?

                            Hello folks!!!

Thank you for this great discussion. My first thought was the same as Infansammler had. The pictures and the flash play tricks with us. I try to get better pictures from the seller.

                            Thanks to all of you.

                              Hi gents!!!

Here are more Pictures of the HSF from shuco. I don´t know why, but I like it. The ship on the front is not so worn, as the surrounding. In my opinion, also the hardware is o.k. Only the gilding on the back is a bit funny. Look at the pictures and give me please your final decision.

                              Regards
