    More HSF fun - R.S.&S.

    Hi, I've had this badge for a couple of years and never posted it for opinions so it's about time I did. It has the correct fittings and die flaws so I assume it is an original but it has a rather crude repair at the 6 o'clock position. I can't see it getting out of the factory like this so I am assuming it has been damaged in wear. If so, I consider the repair as sub-standard for a jeweller so could it have perhaps been done "An Bord"?

    Some of the X is still visible below but has had a crudely shaped "lump", for want of a better word, soldered on top.

    Any thoughts?

                  Thanks Philippe, I like it and the repair certainly gives it character. It doesn't show up in the pics but the badge has a real nice dark patina to it. It came to me as part of a group of 6 awards & their citations to a guy who served on the Admiral Hipper. Suposedly the awards and citations are original to each other but, as this HSF, and the Schwerin minesweeper, are both somewhat worn it makes me wonder if someone bought up some "cheap" awards to match the citations. Or maybe I'm just being cynical. No matter it's still a very nice group even if the awards & citations have been married.
