Opinions on French Destroyer Badge

Better pictures Jay. As darkman indicates, there has been much discussion as to whether or not the Bacqueville badges were made during or postwar. It seems to be accepted, by most collectors, that they were manufactured during wartime. I've always been a bit skeptical about it because I remember when they appeared on the sales market enmasse. They were plentiful and relatively inexpensive as compared to other known wartime badges. On the other hand, even though I am a skeptic regarding their age, I do have a full set of them. If I had my choice however between purchasing a Bacqueville and an accepted wartime badge of the same quality, I'd pass on the Bacqueville and purchase the other. Just my opinion.

If you do a search on the Bacqueville badges on this site I believe that you will find the answers to these questions. There has been a lot of discussion on this previously. I don't remember ever seeing that these badges were ever issued, only that they were manufactured during wartime. Opinions are split and it's up to each individual to make up his own mind.
My last word on the topic.

I Volume I of For Fuhrer and Fatherland (published 1976) the author shows a French made example for the Coastal Artillery.
I remember getting one back in 1973 or so (coastal artillery example).
These badges were around way before the 80's.

Here are a couple of photos of an Auxillary Cruiser. I'm posting not because I know it's good (I don't), but rather to confirm that I pulled it out of a box in my storage area that was packed away in 1972. So, this type has been around at least since that year. Came from a junk shop, with other stuff, in Lexington, Virginia.Attached Files

Bacqueville has NEVER made badges for the Kriegsmarine or any other german army branch. Mr Bacqueville was on De Gaulle's side during WW2. The company which produced the badges in France during WW2 is MOURGEON.
