I think that s a good badge but opinions are welcome.
MM maybe and fair price for a badge?
    Thanks in advance

Looks like a copy to me, close to an original but not quite right. Base metal looks wrong as does the finish.
    Cheers,

I agree with Brian. Notice that the silvering is gone from the spout, but the wreath still has a bright gold finish that appears to be uniformly (and artificially) worn from the wreath. Probably to make it appear "worn".

Looking at the reverse, there seems to be no wear to the finish, especially on the edges, which doesn't make sense if the badge was worn as much as the front indicates.

I am also not crazy about the hardware set-up.

Agree, base material looks not good,
        where did you bought it?
It would be interesting to know that to keep an eye on more fakes.

              Badge is mine.
So let me put it this way. Base material is zink. As many other late war medals. And about gold part believe me or not it was an accident. I was moving last week and during that I didnt secure my display with medals. They fall over each other and they rubbed color off. It was not intentionally made weathering because i am making all kind of models and i would not make such lousy weathering. Badge was bought from Detlev Niemann and so far I havent encountered any fakes in his possesions. So I am asking you please explain to me again what is wrong with base material and according to what do you thing this is a copy. THX.

From what I can see, this appears to be an original by an unknown maker. The atypically wide pin can also be found on HSFs and Blockade Breakers (probably other types too) so for me the hardware is not that unusual. The finish would not be out of order on a zinc badge, which the catchplate and basemetal certainly suggest to me.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

I would also be of the opinion that this is an original. I have had sveral of these over the years and they are commonly referered to as "The wide pin" as the pin really is very large.
I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of these pieces and would buy and sell it myself without problem. In the end I agree with what Mike says.
