Also note a thing that sometimes makes us suspicious:

While the catch is the same, catchplates differ considerably in size between badge One and Two!

        Dear Frank,

I'm still at work and since they are so rare the search between 2 interviews took a little longer. The wreath on these L/18 is so typical that you can't go wrong.

Does anybody know of more variations of B.H. Mayer Minesweepers? It would be great to find the second pin variation they used on very few of their EK 1s.

            Dear Frank,

Think this one is the same as your third example but this time the reverse setup is finished in silver.

              Hi Frank,

I think it's great that you are showing us the different types of pins on the Mayer's minesweeper badges. I noticed the first two badges are identical in the way they are finished and only differ in the type of pin used. I find it interesting also that the EK1 made by Mayer share the different types of pins and are finished the same. I am posting a picture of the reverse of my 26 marked EK1 that some people felt was a questionable type because of the pin. I've always felt that the key to determining originality is in the finish. I also want to add that I've owned this cased EK1 marked 26 since 1997 before the better known and excepted pin type was found in the East.

                Dear John,

I had exactly your cross in mind when I said that about the variant pin. Looking at the mark and the finish in connection with the not same but similar variant pin on the Minesweepers, I would be happy to own it.
