    Tombak UBadge

IMO the badge looks like a Hymmen type but points out a different silhouette of the eagle head and an uncommon reverse set up . The pin recalls the zinc pattern .
    A variante ? Opinions ?

I would agree it looks like a Hymmen with some type of variant reverse set up. There are at least 3 different hardware set ups that I am aware with Hymmen uboat badges.

          Did you find number 4?

            Hi Giorgio,

I've never studied the Hymmen v's "Hymmen-like" badges in detail. I know there was a very good thread on them so I'd suggest a search to compare the obverse details of your badge to other examples.

From the reverse, I have no problems with the hardware on your example - it looks period to me. I like the look of the finish as well.

I would question whether the badge is tombak though, as there appears to be a catchplate present (this may only be an effect of solder under the finish though).
            Regards
            Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

                I agree your remarks.
Almost certainly the badge comes from Hymmen's atelier .Maybe a compromise version between tombac and zinc.
Otherwise I find very unusual the voided area around the eagle head and the hint of a separation line between keel and rudder
                all the best
