    U Boat badge ID

This is not my expertise, but I found this with a couple other medals from an estate sale. Any thoughts? Marked L/18 on back

I think it may go nice with my Kriegsmarine Mod 34 Mauser

What are these made of? Seems heavy!

OK...How do I post an attachment

unusual reverse set up , odd gildind (flash ?) ,probably a war time piece .

I have to say this one raises some immediate questions for me as to whether it's a casting. Hardware looks wrong, as does the maker mark. I think some better, less "flashy" pics are required.

                      Regards

Well my Mayer is an early one in tombak and have a total different design.
The late Mayer L/18 in zink i have only seen this with broad pin and with the L/18 stamp on the pin.
I dont know if there are any variation on this?

Bob just send me the pictures and i post them as before.

Hi better pics are really needed on this one, going off those pics this award raises some concerns for me, finish looks alittle sparkly (is that a word ) and is something you see on fakes, unless its the flash, eagle does not look like a mayer (pics?) reverse set up not correct. It has to be said that not all L18 had the mm on the pin, although in my opinion that does not look correct either. Just my thoughts, better pics would definately help thou. Not one for me at the minute.
