    Foerster & Barth Hilfskreuzer

    Hi guys,

    this is a recent addition to the HSK collection.It is an upgrade of similar badge i have by this maker.This is a badge of single piece construction and i beleive and early and uncommon variant by Foerster & Barth prior to their badges of two piece construction.It is a heavy badge and nicely detailed and hard to find with this amount of finish left.My scanner does not do the badge creditThis type of badge can also be found with the L/21 mark on the pin.I have yet to see a two piece badge by this maker that is Marked.

      Very nice indeed, these big single piece F&B bbadges are great looking and feel great in the hand. Hard to beat in the auxiliary cruiser department.

        Reverse, the great silver dished finish is almost as good as the obverse.

          Another great looking example there Mark that has held it's finish well.These single piece badges are superior in detail and finish compared to the two piece badges IMO,which,as i mentioned, leads me to beleive they might be of earlier construction.

              They are wonderful looking examples.

              Here's my F&B ACB. Also a 1 piecer. Zinc devoid of any gilt.

                  Yours looks to me like a two-piecer. Are you sure it is one-piece?

                    Hi Tom-

                    I stand corrected. I had to remove the piece from the display frame to actually view it properly. I had based my assumption from my photos, in which the pin covers up the button the fastens piece 1 to piece 2. After removal and inspection, indeed, it is a 2 piece ACB. Here is a photo I just took to illustrate the 2 piece construction. From the front, it does appear to be 2 piece construction, where the bow of the vessel breaks the cresting wake.

                              despite lack of finish a good,honest badge of two pice construction attributed to Foerster & Barth.

                              your badge is not a Foerster & Barth IMO.I would put it in the category of maker unknown.
