U-Boat Badge with Diamonds and Dönitz´s U-Boat Badge

    Hello,
Had someone pictures and facts from a original U-Boat Badge with Diamonds?
And exist pictures from the U-Boat badge from Karl Dönitz?
Thank you and greetings from Germany

    U-boat Badge With Diamonds

The U-Boat Bade with Diamonds came first struck in fine silver with a slightly larger diamond studded swastika affixed over the normal swastika on the badge. These are the early types produced under Admiral Reader's command as Grand Admiral of the Kreigsmarine. That badge was produced in 535 fine gold. Later a gilded tombak badge was utilized, but according to Donitz, in an meeting I had with him in the late 60's, he said he had ordered "100 badges in pure silver". I don't know if these badges were produced in "pure silver" or not. However Godet and Schwerin, both prestigious manufacturing firms for orders and medals located in Berlin, both produced diamond versions of the U-Boat badge with Diamonds. Any original badge is so rare that getting to inspect other verified original badges to compare with is near impossible. The second type badges had a much smaller diamond swastika than the first types. However, I have one that appears to be a gilded tombak with a nickel silver of silver plate applied first and then the gold plate applied. Another problem is that there are so many fakes of this badge on today's market that one must be extra careful when attempting to purchase one as an original badge.
