The lettering looks very wide to me, Hopefully I'm wrong on all these but IMO not original.

        Thanks so far Mark.

I know 100% that this bagde is bought before 1960, but it could still be a copy.
So its not easy to be a collector of German medals.

          Hi Andy,

I believe that this is a genuine example of the dish-backed variety, which did have larger lettering. If you could confirm that the reverse does indeed have a large shallow depression it would help though! Also, I think it is a zincer as I think I can detet a round catch-plate under the messy solder job (not uncommon for Schwerin zincers).

          Regards

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

            Andy,

i have no problem with this one.A good looking Schwerin zincer and as Mike mentioned ,a messy solder job under the catchplate which is not uncommon.
Here is a detail of one that i have.

            Regards,Martin.

              Hello Andy,
I am once again late to the party, but Mike and Martin are correct it is a real badge. I have a similar example in zinc, but with dished back. Nice piece.

              Regards,
              Jody

I agree, dish backed original. John
