    Schwerin U-Boat - Early Pattern

Managed to finally grab an early Schwerin Maker Marked U-Boat Badge today. Pretty decent shape with some burnishing still apparent on the highspots of the obverse. Hope you like

Thanks Guys. Interesting is the wierd shaped catch on these type. They all exhibit this off-center elongated "C" look.

                      Nice pick up Darrell

There were discussions a long time ago on the differences and timelines on various badges that used the round "C" type catch and the elongated "C" type catches. Not sure if the threads still exist here anymore though as we have lost a lot of old threads circa 2000-2002 when changing servers and whatever else "happens".

I thought the round wire was used prior to the elongated style though.

Could be Tim. Lots of good threads if you can find them. I wonder why they went to the elongated one. Seems that it would keep the pin a little off center>?

Wow. What an attractive badge !

I've had soo much difficulty tracking down a decent sub, I almost want to throw in the badge towel and go back exclusively to edged weapons. But when one sees an aesthetically beautiful badge like this, now I know why I just can't shake the craving for 'em.

A wonderful badge for display. Once to be proud of.
