    Brandenburger medal?

I spoke with a veteran of the Brandenburgers who volunteered into the service following a sub training accident in '41 and trained under Hauptman Theodor Oberlander. In July 42 he left with 30 men to Hauhasian Mountain (5600m) which sits between the Caspian and Black Seas overlooking the single highway from the north through Georgia to Tifein . He continued to see service s throughout the Caucusses (pictures of him with halftracks, camels, JU52 used in the Caucusses) before serving in the Kusterjager (Noworossijk), then training men for the Sprengboote and torpedo sub services. He talks about receiving an award, a Brandenburger medal of which only nine were ever distributed. Has anybody heard of this before or can anybody describe it? Does it have another name that I can research?

    Many thanks,

    Michael
