    The thought crossed my mind that this might be the case, but w/o any evidence to support that I think most people will assume this is an altered piece. The stamp is rather deep like many of the fake schwerin markings but that doesn't really mean anything either- I've seen pics of real ones with known histories with deep strikes too. So I'll admit that we all could be missing something here, but I can just as easily imagine the dealer who had it marked...( Your chance to get a SUPER RARE MARKED SCHWERIN u-boat badge, the only zinc schwerin with maker markings I've ever seen! Perfect for the advanced collector!) This especially sounds true for me since until rather recently, according to Willamson's book, these Deumer zincers were commonly thought to be of Schwerin origin....
