    Schwerin HSF help

Okay, I've searched the forum, checked Lorenzo's website, read the technical article, and I still need help. Comments on this HSF badge please. The hinge is not the typical one found, but looks similar to what I see pictured in the technical article as badge #5, typical zincer. The logo looks pretty good to me (untrained eye).

        Hi Cliffe,

I can't find anything wrong with this badge. It shows al the features you would expect to find on a good zink Schwerin HSF badge and it's seems to be in a good condition also.

What is troubeling you with this one?

If you look at Mike Kenny's HSF Article, you will see that it looks much more like Badge #7....

...much, MUCH MORE like Badge #7!

I also think it is a good zinc badge.

            Thanks guys!

Philippe, Nothing troubling me other than my lack of knowledge. I do not own one of these, and have not studied them, so my real concern was determining if it was good.

Lorenzo, Correct, looks very much like badge #7. I was only looking at the hinge section where it has a badge with this type of hinge.

Thanks to you both. Now the tougher question. What is the value of this badge. The dealer wants $230 US. Is that a decent price?

Pricing decisions are really up to the individual, but I think $230 would be a good price for that badge.

                  Hi again all,

looks good to me as well Harry, good gilding still on it as well for a zinc badge. I would say the price is OK as well so snap it up while its still hot

                    Hi,

Although I'm late reading this thread I thought I'd chip in. This badge probably IS "Badge#7" as I sold it some time ago (to another Forum member) - the paint marks on the reverse certainly look the same. To whoever buys it, the finish is almost 100% present BUT is mainly grey with a yellowish tone - I didn't quaite image it properly in my article. The only spot of strong yellow/gold is on the tip of the main pin when viewed from the obverse side - not visible in the above image but just visible in the scan from the article. The price hasn't gone up all that much either. Good luck to whoever buys it, it is a good honest late war example with the less common steel pin.

                    Regards
                    Mike K

Here's another shot of the same badge. As Mike said, the color of the wreath is actually grey. The pic at the top of this thread makes it look more yellowish than it was when I had it.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm not sure it's the same badge as the one you guys posted though. A dealer has it, not another forum member. Anyway, I will likely get it. Thanks again.
