    Another Schwerin U-Boat Badge

After discovering that the Schwerin U-Boot badge I had in my collection was bad , I began searching the stormy, mine-ridden waters for a replacement.

My search led me to the shores of the North Sea - Hamburg, actually - and Detlev's 01 February update. He had two of the badges that day, The first one got away ("Sorry, sold"), but the second one was secured and arrived the following Monday! After a few anxious moments starightening out the catch (Detlev noted in his description that it was bent), the badge was ready for the camera, so here it is...

Many thanks, Martin. Based on what I know to look for now, I thought so, but I'm kinda gun-shy since I though the other one was good for so long.

              Gotta love this Forum

                No problem,

It is one of the four basic tombak versions of the badge which you will find in a thread on their styles not long ago. In this case, one of the early versions in tombak.

                No problems. John

Skipper I can remember that one. That's a great job at straightening out the catch. If I can recollect, it was completely flat.

Thanks, Darrell. Yep, It was completly closed and laid over flat against the wreath. I had to open it up and then straighten it.

All the while I Just kept looking at that tiny blob of solder ...

                      Hi Skip,

Sorry I'm late to the thread - as already stated above, that is an excellent early marked Schwerin example. It screams original. Great pics too for study pruposes. Congrats on a superb replacement.

                      Regards
                      Mike

PS: Sorry, no SOS for me. If I told my wife I was going to the US for badges at the moment, you'd be reading my obituary!
                      Regards
                      Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

Looks great and a nice addition!! Here's another for comparison and I think you can see the similiarities. Congrats!
