help with odd mine sweeper please

ok odd one here. the overall set up etc of the badge to me looks ok BUT it only has silver left on wreath area where i thought to expect gold
the main areas of silver eg the bomb blast has been absorbed but on wreath quite alot left. i have taken some close up pics for you experts to check it out.

firstly is the badge genuine ?? secondly any ideas why silver on the wreath ?

thirdly if i wish to sell a suitable price in this condition

Hi Chris badge looks like a good one to me . To my knowledge some awards had a silver undercoat finish applied before the finishing touches were added. Unless its the pics there appears to be evidence of the gold finish in the small crevasses of the wreath. One spot appears underneath the eagles beak. Is that the case? All the best

would i be correct that the pin is a typical schwerin type ?

if so an unmarked schwerin ??

                Chris,
A good period badge IMO, sometimes the finishes on these can take on a silver hue as they fade over time or the underlayment of silver is all that is left as Mrg posted, hard to tell. I do not believe this is a Schwerin, even though the hardware looks similiar. There are other differences from Schwerin, mainly the wave pattern and plume. Many firms produced minesweepers and most are not marked, why I have no clue.
                Cheers,
                Brian

                  Chris,

IMO also a good period badge. The reverse hardware does look similar to that of Schwerin Zincers, but the obverse details make me think that it is not an unmarked Schwerin. However,i could be wrong.

                  Regards,Martin.
