Unmarked U-Boat Badge ID

Hi guys,

Could you give me some help with possibly determing the maker of this U-boat badge. Fine gilt remains and it weighs about 22 grams. All thoughts and comments greatly appreciated.

I believe it is a mid to late war zinc Deumer. It looks real close to these two:

Ron, I was thinking along the lines of a Deumer from what I have read and seen on the forum, but wanted to get some more opinions on it. I agree, it is in utterly fantastic condition.

The gilt finishes on the obverse of these are so bright its hard to photograph them properly.

This is the third example we have seen of this badge recently, not sure if one or the other is the same without closer examination. In any case, while it does not have the standard swaz cutouts and reverse catch typical of a Deumer, it most likely is a variation made by Deumer based on the other obverse features.

As the war progressed, catches could easily have changed as well as finishing touches such as the cutouts.

However, it appears to be zinc, not tombak. The Deumer tombak is a completely different looking badge in any case.

A gorgeous badge! Here is my unmarked Deumer with solid swaz and different catch, I believe referred to as flat wire or flat stock. The catch almost looks to be punched out/stamped, as it is beveled on one side. Spooky!
