        Hi,

This one is imo a hard one to evaluate. It's the Schwerin design with Schwerin hardware. There appears to be a fire-gilt-like finish on it. It's a bit rough around the edges in places, but some of these later tombak Schwerin examples were a bit rough.

In the absence of hand examination and detailed measurements and a weight, I'd give this one the benefit of the doubt for now. There's a good chance this one might actually be OK imo.

        Regards
        Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

Hi Mike have to say this is a hard call to make, but my concerns about this award are in the hinge looks poorly done and not what you would expect from an early tombac piece, detail too the eagle chest loooks alittle weak, wings, and periscope. Could well be the pics and the angle of the shot. A good point i have to say is in the excess flash normally a good sign. On the whole i am not personally convinced by this award, but that is just my opinion. All the best

            Better shot?

I hope this is a better shot of the front. Since the first picture was not very true to the badge.

I have to go with a real one. Your fake destroyer might not help in the evaluation of this piece, but from what I can see, I have to give it the benefit of the doubt.

What we need, since we do not have it in hand are the weights and measurements.

So width, height both at maximum, thickness of striking, weight and wingsand of national emblem. Give us this data, and it will help to conclusively determine its authenticity, but like I said, I have to go with real at this point based on what I can see.

In hand, there would be no problem in determing if this was real or not, but since this is not possible, we need the measurements. John

I dont have any equipment to measure except a ruler which makes the eagle wing spread 31mm 49mm wide and about 37/38mm tall. These are very rough. No scales. Jimmy
