    eStand Unmarked U-boat badge

Not to belabour the issue, but this badge has been posted as a part of an offer on eStand. I think it is a good unmarked Schwerin, but would ask others to comment.

    Here is the back.

The front is at the bottom of the offer.

Not sure if it is a schwerin, shape of the pin does not look quite right but could be the angle of the photo. Really need some better pics.

Is the a round base plate under the catch?, could be a deumer.

To be clear, IMO it is 100% original and I think Rob is saying the same thing. However, the maker is in question due to the angle/quality of the images in regards to the catch and also a much clearer and larger image of the eagle head--straight on--is necessary. From an angle, a Deumer and a Schwerin look very similar and are tricky.

The reason right now that it might not be a Schwerin is the catch, which is not typical of the unmarked (last version) Schwerin submarine badge--that catch is flat and if you do a search you will see this. Also do a search on the Deumer badge.

So please post more images and we can try to identify the specific maker if possible and get a better idea about the catch and eagle head.

IMO an original zinc Deumer. I will be able to do more research on this badge in a couple days, away for the moment from my files. John

After looking through my files i would say Deumer also. One of the characteristics of the Deumer badge,as Gordon points out in his book, is the slightly uptilted barrel on the deck gun.

                  Regards,Martin.
