    1st KM Badge I ever owned...Coastal Artillery

I definitely remember this one as a vet acquired many many years ago...given to me along with some other stuff by a vet friend of mine. (Maybe around 50 years ago). Can you tell me who the maker was?

    Thanks,
    Ron

        Hi Ron,

        I agree with the maker.

I wish it was possible to find out exactly how/where/when your vet friend acquired this one though!

These "French" badges are still a bit if a grey area.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

          Mike,

Sorry, but he died several years ago. He was an older man when he was in the service, probably in his early to mid-30's at least. Not really all that old, but much older than the average non-career soldier. I know I was around 20 to maybe 23 when I got it from him, and I am soon to be 68. I had know him for a few years, but didn't even know he was in the service, when the subject came up one day. He said he had brought back a few things, and to come see him sometime. I went out to his house........he didn't have me come inside, but we stayed outside and talked while he had his wife "get those things he put in the bag". She came out with a small paper bag. He gave them to me and asked me if I wanted them. I said yes I did, depending on what he wanted for them. That made him a little aggravated, and he again asked me if I wanted them. When I said yes, he said take them.....they are yours. Then he ended the visit shortly thereafter, saying to his wife that they had better get going.....don't remember where they were going now......but that was it. I really never saw him much after that. He said he brought back some guns, but he wouldn't talk about them or show them to me. He also didn't say much of anything about his service, just that he had come through France, was in the Battle of the Bulge, and ended up in Germany..........and that was pretty much all. He just really didn't want to talk about his experiences at all. What was in the bag? As I remember, this badge, about 4 of the SA sport badges for wounded (all were badly corroded except one which was in very good condition), maybe a IAB, and definitely a Luftwaffe ground combat badge in poor condition. I got rid of it, and all but the best SA sport years ago. I don't remember about the IAB, if there was actually one in the bag. Sorry, I can't give any useful information on the where and when etc..

          Thanks,
          Ron
