Hi Rob,
If it makes you feel any better I got stuck with a Frank & Reif sub badge and a Schwerin HSF badge just like yours when I first started collecting back in the 80's. The Frank & Reif especially is very convincing so don't be too hard on yourself. It's a sinking feeling (no pun intended) to find out your badges are fake, but just try to look at as a learning experience and move on. I know it's a rather expensive learning experience. My advice would be to direct your future purchases to reputable dealers who offer a return policy and a guarantee of originality. My sense is that there are some pretty good people selling badges on the e-stand too. Just be sure to ask for opinions on pieces you're thinking about buying if you have any doubts. Hang in there and don't give up!
Best regards,
Eric
