    Hi Rob,
If it makes you feel any better I got stuck with a Frank & Reif sub badge and a Schwerin HSF badge just like yours when I first started collecting back in the 80's. The Frank & Reif especially is very convincing so don't be too hard on yourself. It's a sinking feeling (no pun intended) to find out your badges are fake, but just try to look at as a learning experience and move on. I know it's a rather expensive learning experience. My advice would be to direct your future purchases to reputable dealers who offer a return policy and a guarantee of originality. My sense is that there are some pretty good people selling badges on the e-stand too. Just be sure to ask for opinions on pieces you're thinking about buying if you have any doubts. Hang in there and don't give up!
    Best regards,
    Eric

Hello again Rob...If you're still in the game and looking for a real Schwerin HSF badge here's one I'm thinking about selling. It's a minty early quality example with virtually all of it's gold gilt along with the polished highlights to the swaz and bow tie at the base. Overall a super nice piece that's looks better than the pics show. Price would be $750 plus postage and Paypal fees if you decide to go that route... Eric
