Schwerin Berlin maker mark--fake or not?

Hi John,

I'm not a Schwerin sub guy at all, but this is an excellent thread, so I am following along. I have been wrong on most of my hunches here so far. The worst I can do is be wrong, so I will say a fake. I have a reason, but let's let this play out.

Now that we see the rest of the photo its a I'm afraid. Would like to see some photos of the hinge and pin plus the front if possible though.

it must be difficult for beginners to ID an original from reference photos alone these days without having any experience of handling original pieces. Minor differences could be interpreted as manufacturers variations if you not aware.

Having said that I also personally find that it is getting more difficult these days to spot fakes from just photos alone, especially when they are not clear.

AMEN, Brother!

Two good lessons to be learned for beginners, and for everyone. 1) There is nothing better than experience. Don't just buy a badge because some group said it's good via internet (or it's bad.) Don't just ask, "Is it authentic" and "What's it worth". You gotta learn other ways, too! Just be creative with the SEARCH function, and get to the shows.

2) And if you do ask, and we hope you do, please submit good clear pictures! If you ARE going to rely on them, get a digital camera and focus (no pun intended) on getting clean images on the Forums.
