    GWL U-boat badges are flat. I have seen a few period hand vaulted examples, but it would prove to be difficult since these badges are zinc.

      Be very very careful with this badge and post here first before you buy. Just do a search and see my thread on "Is it fake" concerning the GWL sub badge. The latest versions of fakes will fool most people. John

        What is the correct weight?

        I have one vaulted gwl sub badge whose weight is 18g. and my brother has one flat gwl sub badge (identical of the above photo) whose weight is 17g.
        What is the correct weight?

            Hi all GWL were flat when produced and like Jody has already mentioned Hand Vaulted. My own example is also hand vaulted so they are around in both styles but you need to be carefull. All the best

                FYI mine clocks in at 18.3 grams. Soooo ... I guess it's zinc, but post pics to be sure.
