Thanks. The pin looks like it has some gold metal showing thru is why I thought tombak.

The photos do not make it look like tombak; that being said I understand that zinc badges need a base for the catch to be soldered . While tombak could have the catch soldered directly. Should my assumption be true, perhaps you can post better photos of the catch...it does look like it has no catch plate.

This could be a late war zinc cast with integral catch and hinge. I do not like these since they are so hard to determine if authentic or not since you can only go by the finish, which in this case, looks more or less OK with the zinc coming through.

Better to stick with tombak and zinc die forged vice die cast versions where you can examine the hinge and catch attachments. John
