    the first badge which was awarded was the U-Boot badge...
    Two examples ....

    at first a Junckr piece..

        I do not know enough to comment about early U-boat badges, but the f.o. is very nice...I have also seen these with a extra punch mark on the reverse, John

            Very nice piece George...I sometimes wonder what these marks represent...I have definately seen similar marks on other badges by f.o., but I do not recall what other type badges...one author has stated that this is some type of guide for the catch...but I doubt this as the other f.o. type badge that I have seen this mark on had it in such a place in the center of the badge where it could not be used as a guide for any catch or hinge.

            Now, if only I can remember on what other f.o. badge I have seen this mark on....and the other "punch mark" may have been a square.
