    UBoot Badges, Interesting Backside

    hello

you can see on the backside numbers - maybe 30.03.1915?

no stamp, but i think original

can anyone tell me the producer?

    i like it

Hi Rove going off those pics it appears to be the Juncker style of U-Boat award (better pics of the eagle are really needed) with a different style or replacement pin. As for the numbers on the reverse I dont know cant be the date 1915. Could be the persons serial number? or maybe just a selection of numbers that were meanifull to them as an identifacation mark. All the best

      Hi Rove,

First impressions are that the hinge/pin are replacements and that the numbers are imo spurious post-war additions (something common on poor quality Polish fakes). I don't recall seeing that sort of large stamped font on any genuine pre-45 badge.

I'd be looking carefully at the badge itself as well. There appears to be some poor obverse dertail in places (eg eagles chest) and the hand detailing (edges/profile) is unusually bad for a badge of this type. I get the impression the badge itself may be genuine but I personally am not ruling out a good casting from these pics. The basemetal does look like tombak and the catch looks correct for an earlier example. I can't tell from the bright pics if the badge has any finish (fire-gilt is what I'd expect) but I do not like that "grey" hazy effect in the obverse recesses - this seems to be something that appears on better castings sometimes, rather than on genuine (non-zinc) badges.

      Regards
      Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

        hello

        thank you for critical answers

i will check the badges til i get it.

i know the seller, he is honest, but of course he can fail too!

he maked no secret that the needles was shorted after war.

but i will see - change is possible

            Rove,

It is my opinion that this is probably a good badge, maybe of the so-called Juncker variety which in truth is no longer considered Juncker--we stick with it since there is nothing else to call it.

However, good or not, it is best to save your money and buy textbook badges, not ones with anomolies in design either obverse or reverse.

It is just not worth the effort for what you get when the textbook tombaks are available on nearly every dealer site and sometimes here on estand.

            Why bother?

            John

I like it - a typical "Juncker" and in nice condition. Bugger the reverse.

                hello

                so - my opinion

i think 100% original piece. privat piece directly from the wearer
number is for 99% the dogtag number or the km stammrollen number

producer is unknown - to me

and i like pieces like this - not usual, because here can you see - all is possible

If it is directly from the wearer, not a story that it is from the wearer, then I am with you on this one. I also like this type of provenance. John
