    calling out the fakes

    Hello Gang,

I need a little advice. I have purchased a number of badges from a vendor and at least one, a uboat badge is clearly a fake, maker marked with Frank and Reif, Stuttgart, possibly several other badges as well including a destroyer badge. What is the best way to handle this situation? Should I try to get my money back or chalk it up and ignorance on my part? I am not sure whether the seller did this intentionally or not. He insists that I am wrong but their is no question about the uboat badge.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

Well, if your convinced that they are bad, then return them for a full refund.

If your vendor want's other opinions, or if you're not 100% sure, then post some PICs here and see what other members have to say. Just make sure if you do, the vendor isn't going to have a fit and then deny your refund.

Sounds like someone I would think twice about doing business with if he isn't ready to refund your money.

Always try and get your money back. What do you have to lose by that?

Is the vendor a dealer or private collector.

If a dealer then 100% try to get your money back, if he is a closet private collector then may be a bit harder to convince him if he genuinely believes they are real

I like to believe that if a collector thinks they are real he will take them back because they have a value (unless he really screwed you on the price) and can easily be resold to another.

Now, if he knows they were fake he might not want them back (see comment in parentheses above).
