I've never seen an HSF by "AS", Frank. I would be anxious to see a picture if somebody has one.

heres mine. Its still got glue on the pin were it was removed from a photo album, I also got a photo of the the winner and his 1st type eBoot eventually.
Are you not satisfied with yours?
I do see these knocking around from time to time, sometimes without maker mark.

wow, this must be a very rare badge as I have never seen one on the web during the 2 years I have surfed it.

Dear Skip,

Yes, indeed, I am not satisfied with the one I just received. Before returning it, I wanted to learn more about it since the only reference pic I have of one is VERY blurry.

I am convinced that the badge that is in my hands now is not ok, it seems like a casting.

Skip, I would like you to please check your badge for a few things that I cannot make out on your pics:

-My hinge seems to be ONE piece with the body of the badge, not a seperately applied sheet of metal. What about yours? Ok?

-The tip of my pin is suspiciously sharp and thin. Yours?

-Ship detail is quite weak on my badge

-Wreath shows a "casting accident" 6 o´clock obverse

-Leaf detail weak overall. Yours?

I have also seen about 4 of these on the web but this is the first one I actually handled.

In addition to the signs of a casting, the base material also does not seem right. It is not "old" zinc, more like a modern, brighter white metal. What about your base metal? Does it feel and smell like good old zinc?

Frank, is it me, or is the ship not centered in the wreath? The bow looks like it favors the starboard side a bit..

Yes, a bit. But also note that the badge does not rest 100% flat on my scanner.

Does anybody except for Skip have one of these? Or pics of one?
