    Schwerin HSF - Opinions Please

    Hello All,
KM badges aren't my strong point, so I wanted to get your opinion on this badge. I've looked through all of the articles, but still not sure. The almost total absence of the anchor on the front scares me somewhat. Scratched on the back is what appears to be the owner's rank, name, service number: Fk. Ob. Gef. Willy Ahrens, 0 (I think it's a zero, but maybe the letter O?)7398/41; in the middle a ship name Adm. Scheer; and on the other side is Ahrens.xx.

I hope these scans and magnified photos are good enough. I'm not the best photographer.

    Thanks,
    Dale

Front photo. Sorry for the poor lighting, but getting a sunny day in Prague in January is about impossible.

A very nice original Schwerin High Seas Fleet badge, a good addition to your collection Dale.

              Cheers,

              Mark

                Hi Dale,

You appear to have a very nice genuine but worn example - I especially like the scratchings Looks like name, feldpost# and if that is a "Scheer" scratched in the middle, then also his ship The obverse looks like it's been well cleaned and polished, hence explaining some apparently missing or poor detail. I'm not 100% sure what to make of the burring on the swas arms. The reverse is textbook genuine though.

Very nice character badge - enjoy it!

                Regards
                Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!
