    U-Boat badge

    Hi Phil,

although the badge does look OK I personally would not buy anything from a website were the back is not shown. Try writing to the guy and ask for some pics. of the back. If he does´nt reply forget it:

Hi here's a photo of the back of the badge. What would the value of such a badge be?

Any help would be great as I'm considering buying this badge.

        Cheers
        Phil

          Dear Phil,

This looks like a good one and IMO it is a zinc unmarked Schwerin badge from what I can see on the pics. Anything between 160 and 220 EUR/USD would be acceptable, anything below that a bargain.

          Cheers, Frank

              Hi guys

Just one little observation. Are you sure that the back is from the same badge? On the second pic you can see that the arms of the swas are open. But on the first pic there is gilding visible between the swas arms so that would make it solid. or are my eyes just playing tricks on me.
Are the open spaces between the arms of the swas not a typical feature for both marked an unmarked Schwerin's ?

In attachment please find my badge.

              kind regards
              Philippe

                  Dear Philippe,

You paid good attention! Yes, it is not the same badge shown by Phil on these two pics. And yes, the swaz should be cut out for a Schwerin.

                  Cheers, Frank

Well spotted, I shall email the dealer about this, maybe he just missed them up?

                    Cheers

Just out of curiosity, if the first badge posted has the characteristics of a Schwerin but the solid swaz, which maker would this be? Or are we looking at a fake?

                      Cheers,
                      Brett
