    Unmarked Mine Sweeper Badge

    Gents,

This is the last of my recent KM badge acquisitions. It is an unmarked mine sweeper, though I think this type is attributed to the maker Foerster & Barth. The high points show signs of wear and the eagle has takena few knocks over the years. The wreath retains plenty of gilt finish. In all a good looking badge.

Did I get the maker of this badge right?

    Cheers,

    Mark

      Hello Mark,
Another nice badge, although I believe that your example is an unmarked badge by Rudolf Souval of Vienna.
      Best regards,

Hi Mark nice original but i do not believe it is an unmarked R.S. wrong style of reverse set up. To my knowledge the maker of this award remains unknown. All the best

Yes, but Souval also used wide pins on some of their badges. Also, if you compare this badge to a maker marked R.S. badge, you will see that they were made off the same die. So maybe not necessarily a Souval produced badge, but whatever company produced this badge was using the Souval die.

              Thanks mrg!
I have a badge identical to the one that Mark posted, and I also have a marked R.S. Minesweeper Badge. From my examination of the two badges, there is no doubt in my mind that they were both produced using the same obverse die. Either Souval made both badges, or the dies were being shared between companies.
              Best regards,
              Tom

Hi Tom as soon as i saw the eagle I too thought R.S but then When i saw the reverse I started looking for maybe a replacement hinge and catch then I remembered the unknown maker. I too have the R.S and they are very nice . All the best

                  Tom & MRG,

Thanks for the input, I'm not an owner of an RS minesweepr so I can't make any comparisons. I'm sure I'll find some photo's to study.

                  Regards,

                  mark

                    Salut,

I am not an expert but for what it is worth my guess would be an un-marked WH,

                    - same hinge,
                    - same pin,
                    - same hook,
                    - "no neck" from the reverse,

On the RS badge , the place where the hinge is attached is limited by a kind of rectangular platform which curved horizontal lines - those look straight - I hope I make sense ...
