I would appreciate your opinions on this badge. If genuine is it worth $175 ?

I would venture a guess that the lack of response is that this badge is a tough call without it in hand.

Let me say I see nothing that sticks out as it being a reproduction, and if it is authentic, it is certainly worth 175 dollars.

I do have some concerns though. First, it is not a badge I personally have seen before or sticks in my memory. The fittings are common in both good and bad badges.

The finish though is almost too good I think for a zink badge of this age. In addition, the reverse seems like it was sanded, again, almost too good.

Note to the left of the catch is a blotch of gold, this is not a good sign to me. Why is that there in light of the rest of the reverse. Perhaps paint?

So I am not prepared to say it is a bad badge, but the almost mint like condition and the gold blotch makes me a little concerned. Like the badge was assembled, then the catch painted. If the catch was painted, then maybe the wreath was also is my point.

Like to hear other opinions on this one.

Take a look at this GAB know in Franks book as unknown maker #11 or Heukemes 1.28.1. This badge is the largest GAB known and I have recorded in my log as

'Possibly By Wernstein or 'H'".

There are similarities to the reverse lines, hinge and pin set up. I have also seen GAB's like this with similar clasps to the Coastal Artillery Badge.

That badge is a tough call, the set-up looks very familiar to me and I don't have too much of a problem with it (I must say, that is one KM badge I never paid a lot of attention to, so I don't look at them very much). The one thing I would want to see in hand is the finish, it does look re-done.

I would also like to read what others think.

Hi Harvey from a personal viewpoint i believe the award to be an original, as for the finish it is hard to determine going off pics, but a good possibility of a refinish. Is it yours? Closer Pics of the eagle would help.
