        Hi Philippe,

looks good to me but can you see the door just behind the forward gun turret, on your pics I can´t determine if it is there or not. Everything else looks OK and I can see no signs of the well known copys.

          Hi Skip,

That's the observation I was waiting for. I can't see the door either. Since the badge seems textbook to me on all other points I was wondering if the missing door was reason enough to start looking for an other one.

I will ask the seller for a close up of that area, maybe there is only a little more wear in that area.

          Thanks
          Philippe

            Hi Philippe,

I have 2 really havily worn Destroyers from Schwerin were there is no more colour at all, just bare Tombac, on both of these the door is still clearly visable.
That said, all the other points of this badge appear authentic, and as I said, I can see no indicators of the well known fakes.

              Dear Philippe,

I agree with skip, looks good, right down to the typically messy swaz.

              Cheers, Frank

Thanks for your opinions guys, appreciate your help.

Just confirmed my order and now have something to look forward to for next week. You probably know the feeling. One week without the Postman is like a week without....................

                Kind regards
                Philippe

I knew I could expect that kind of reaction the second I posted the reply. Will do my best to be a little more sophisticated next time.

                      Hi guys,

Just received my Tombac Schwerin Destoyer Badge and wanted to post one more scan. As skip mentioned the only strange thing with this badge was the fact that the door on the lower deck seemd missing.
Luckely, as you can see in the attached pic, it was there altough not very pronounced.
I'm quit happy with this badge but a little dissapointed to. Based upon everything I read on this forum and taken in to account that this is my first Schwerin Tombac badge I was expecting to hold the Rolls-Royce of the Kriegsmarine badge maker in terms of overall quality.
However afther comparing it to my early Juncker naval artillery badge this Schwerin badge falls short and makes it to an honorable second place.

                      Kind regards
                      Philippe

                          Hi Philippe,

Re the finish, the gilt on your badge looks quite worn. Find a badge with 80+% fire-gilt finish and THEN make a comparison!!

                          Regards
                          Mike K

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!
