High Seas Fleet Badge Schwerin Good?

I am trying hard to to learn about these badges. It seems they keep making
them better. This one has 5 portholes but I don't like the wear pattern.
    What do you gentlemen think?

A better straight on shot of reverse would help, but this one looks A-ok to me

                  Gator,

Nice original Schwerin badge IMO and if you read Mike's article will place your badge manufacture just after Chris' 4-window version, or the last in the line of tombak badges. I have one very similar and the traits look the same.

The badge is original, but does the finish of the wreath match the wear of the ship? It might be the flash, but it seems to me the finish would not be quite so bright for the the badge indicating possible refinish work.

I am saying possible, to be clear. Just would like to get more comments from others.

Look carefully at the battleship, it is very worn, probably a carried badge, but now look at the bright gold finish. Would this be a possible expected combination for the badge? Most well worn badges of this type seem to exhibit wear marks on the finish also.

Just an observation and looking for other opinions on this one point.

                    John

                      Hi John!

Personally, I don't see issues with the gilding. Schwerin always had a really nice fire gilding compared to other manufacturers and it is bright, especially when photographed. I think I see some minor wear to the edges of the wreath leaves if you look hard enough, but the flash is washing the wear out in the PIC.

Here are my two (1st and 3rd pattern; 3rd pattern like the one in this thread). You can see the wear on both, yet the gilding still appears strong.
