    Strange badge..

    Hi guys,
    Here's a pic I copied from a film...,2 guys in the field,one is wearing a strange badge.
It has the shape of a minesweeper,but....
Someone mentioned a metal one sewn on...,hmmm..
Can't figure out what exactly this is,any ideas ?

    Jos.

      Jos,

      HOW-DEE.

Choice 1) Minesweeper sewn on tunic with heavy dark thread

Choice 2) Heer Balloon Badge that needs to be rotated 35,5 degrees clockwise

      Regards,
      Mark

        Hey Jos,

I'd opt for a sewn on metal badge.

On this uniform his working dress, it probably 'wobbled' around esp. on the crease of the pocket like that should he have put items in their etc. It could have even been broken perhaps ?

The still depicts a 'glare' from the badge so as I say metal likely in my opinion. Whats wrong with the ghastly sewing ? He is a man after all.....typical eh !!! l

Here's my cloth one for comparison.

It is definitely a sewn on minesweeper badge. I have seen that video as well and spent some time looking at that particular scene making sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. If memory serves, this was a KM guy late war put into an infantry role.

Its funny, I have other pictures of guys with sewn on badges like this, all late war or in POW camps. They are unusual and I'm always happy when I can purchase one.

            Howdyd gents ?
            Great stuff marcus..

Yup,most probably must be a heavy attached Minensucher then...,or a prototype balloonbadge, ready for take off..

For some reason I do like this badge, saw a complete Luftcrew once who all earned one of these...,the airgunners did a good job destroying floating seamines...

Yes mate, he was probably one of the many Luft, Navy types that were drafted into land forces service from their original service role's, in the latter stages of the war mostly.

You must have seen the famous U boat crewmen pic's serving in Heer elements.

You can't see the sweeper badge

Hoegaarden Darrel, it's lovely mate, tres bien bierre blanche, from Belgium.

I can see the badge that you are looking at Marcus, I just have a hard time seeing a "Minesweeper" clearly. But that's just me
