Hi Darrell thanks for the extra pics. These pics show the eagle in a completely different light. Nice original Mayer . My main concern was the eagle seemed to bare a resemblance to some of the fakes around at the moment, but these pics change that completely. Hinge also looks good. Better pics all around, and i should know as mine are terrible. All the best.

When was this badge produced do you think? The reason that I ask is because there is a lack of detail to the deck gun that I have previously seen on B.H. Mayer made examples.

Hi William the deck gun is absolutely fine and standard for this type of award. Mayer produced two types of U-Boat awards Tombac and later War Zinc both types are completely different the later war of poorer quality and detail. Hope this helps.
