I have just been offered this minesweepers badge maker marked RS . What is it worth in this condition .

Hi "Stomper",

The badge you've shown appears to be a genuine zinc example by RK (not RS). It has suffered some deep zincpest/corrosion on both the obverse and the reverse however the obverse has imo almost certainly been refinished (the terrible condition on the obverse of the eagle is due to bad corrosion prior to the re-gilting/painting). For me the badge does not have much value. Anything over US$100 would imo be way too much - something in the US$50-75 range would not be out of line in this case I think.

Ditto... You can do much better out there for a zink sweeper.

You can find much nicer examples, but that does not take away from the fact that this is an original, although re-finished, badge.

If the price is right, take it. A poor original is much better than a nice shiney fake anyday of the week.
