    WH destroyer badge

    Hi everyone,
I recently got a WH destroyer badge and found out it
is almost exactly the same as FO made destroyer badge
    including hinge/catch and dimension.
I could not find any reference for my WH destroyer, but
I know my FO destroyer is genuine.
Does anyone have images for WH destroyer badge?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sihong

              Thanks George.
The photos there looked close to my WH. I probably
need Lorenzo to show better photos.

The question now is my WH badge genuine?
Why it is exactly the same as FO badge?

              Any opinions are very welcome.

              Thanks

                FO DESTROYER BADGE

A local fellow has this Destroyer Badge marked FO. I can't recall ever seeing such a badge, but I haven't looked for anything other than Schwerin.

Hi Guys...It has been awhile since I made that original post. After I received the WH destroyer badge I returned it to Detlev because I didn't like the condition it was in...so unfortunately I don't have any close-up pictures to compare. The badge that Sihong shows does look much better than the one I had, and it does bear a strong resemblance to the "FO". Sihong's FO is 100% authentic.

I had never seen a "WH" marked destroyer badge before the one I posted. As I said in the post, I was a "risk-taker" when I bought it. Since then I have only seen a few "WH" destroyer badge pictures, so for me, the jury is "still-out" on those badges. I would hope that others might have something to say about them. Generally, I am viewing "WH" marked badges with close scrutiny. There are alleged fake "WH" marked Army Flak badges and "WH" marked Infantry Assault badges. I don't know about the "WH" destroyer badges, but I DO KNOW.....

.....that the "FO" badge posted by Bill is 100% FAKE.!!! Those badges were packaged with the fake "RS&S" High Seas Fleet badges and are not real. See Sihong's FO destroyer badge for a legitimate example.

                      Thanks Lorenzo.

I have some measurements from WH & FO:
                      WH 27.0g 45.8mm x 54.3mm
                      FO 25.9g 45.9mm x 54.4mm

                      They are very close.

I have more WH closeup images.

Can you show a side-angle view of the catch? Is it on a plate or inserted into the wreath?

Cut & Paste From Member's Only thread

This is interesting as I was contemplating selling my Destroyer badge (unmarked) that closely resembles this one. I too would like to see close-ups, though mine has a markedly different catch setup.

I was wondering if anybody had one of these badges marked with the "WH" as I always thought this was associated with the Walter & Henlein firm of Gablonz. Then, after getting the booklet on maker's marks by G. Williamson & J. Cross, I noticed that they show a marked badge like yours with an issue envelope attributed to the firm of W. Hobacher, Wein. Shows the stamp on the envelope as well. Anybody that has one of these booklets, it's on page 30.

Here's my unmarked one that appears pretty similar, but again the catch is different.
