    High Seas/Aux. Cruiser

Ok, here's the deal, some dude sold me a fake, a few weeks later I found the forum and realised it thanks to y'all's help. He wouldn't refund it, however would exchange it. So, I've got these two on his site that I'm wondering about. Heck, if you see anything on this site that looks good, let me know, I'll take it just to get my money's worth! Thanks, Rich

    Here's the site:

              Hi Rich,

the HSF is an acceptable RS&S. Pity about the broken catch and pin.

The Aux. Cruiser is an all out POS.

                KM Badges

                Hi Rich,
Like Skip said the HSF is real but busted and frankly it would hold no collectible value to me (unless you are framming it with a document and not for that price). That being said I think that HSF badge is one of a couple of real things he has on that site. It must have been placed on there by accident. The Auxiliary Cruiser, you could display in a fish tank. Unless, it is the rare type made during the war in New Guinea from tuna fish cans. I notice on some of that crap he offers a letter of authenticity, I guess it would display well with the crap badges he is selling.

Rich as a teacher I want to give you a piece of advice, please do some homework before buying from places like that. I would recomend in the future to research an item before you buy it. That way you know what you are getting is good and you don't have to run it by a bunch of people for approval. Remember a good collection takes time, effort and a lot of hours spent reading, asking questions, traveling, viewing, studying, and handling original pieces. Hell, I just completed my KM badge collection and it took 31 years. I know most don't have that type of patience, but at least for me it paid off. It is hard today with the internet in which new collectors want to build entire collections in a year. Remember with this hobby-slow and steady wins the race.

BTW, that web-site makes Manion's look good. Personally I like this piece.

                  Rs & S

                  Hihi,

I also thk the HSF RS & S badge is correct - the ball pin attachement & the hook base construction seems text-book for this maker.

FYG I picked up one complete with it's attachement but with no real finish to the wreath for GBP 150 / USD 275 here in London a fortnight ago.

                  I hope this help,
                  yves

Jody is right. You do not have to have any of these badges right now. Do the research, spend a year on the forum, study the threads, make files. I know it is hard in the beginning.

I would cut out Jody's advice, paste it over your computer, and read it every morning.

Research and study has to be the primary part of the hobby, not the badge itself. Othewise, you just become another fish for the old hooks out there. Like in those guns and ammo magazines you mentioned before. Need to be careful with those. Maybe a gem from time to time, more likely not. You seem to have a lot of knowledge actually, and are doing the research, I see your posts on other forums, you are doing great.

My take, you will be a leader on this forum in a year or two. However, my advice, keep your hard earned paycheck in your pocket and do not buy until it is exactly what you want. 4 average badges equals one super badge, you will see. Do not take this wrong, you are doing the same as we all did years ago, just trying to save you money and the drill you are going through with this particular situation.

Estand is a good place to stay for now, most of what you are looking for shows up sooner or later, just be patient. Some of my best items came from estand. Wish I knew about it before.

Now to this situation, he does have good items a few times a year, take a store credit, and wait. If you never get something good, so be it. I have seen real coastal artillery badges, so take the credit and wait. Post here if you find something you think might be real like what you are doing.

                        Web-site

                        Hello Rich,
Take John's advice and take a store credit and wait. That HSF is not worth it.

I have to say I spent some time on that site this morning and it is really horrible. Click on the part about letters of authenticity, he shows a 100 Luftwaffe Ground Assault. That place is a complete rip-off and I wonder if you can get them for mail fraud.

                        Regards,
                        Jody

I would say 600 euro for that Aux is worth 5 years in jail!

Lol, thanks guys. You see my dilemma. I'm just worried my 350 dollar credit might somehow dissapear with time. Like I said, wish I would have found the forum two weeks earlier and kept my wallet in my pocket! thanks again.
