another UCC and Uboot

here are 2 badges, one UCC and one Uboot
they look like a cast to me
opinion from other members?

the u boot is marked with RK and 50 on the pin

the UCC doesnt have the Peekhaus of Berlin marking on the back

Ditto... I dont like either badge.

The clasp doesnt have the maker mark on it, and to the best of my knowledge, they all had the mm on the back.

And the badge is pocked on the back, making it seem like it was indeed cast.

If only they were all this easy.

Try doing some comparisons with known good badges on the Forum. The differences are so great that anybody can see them.

Both badges are among the most horrible fakes I have seen.

I hate just saying, "they are fakes" without a reason, does not add much perhaps. However, these are so bad, where do you start.

For you, a good start might be to enter into the search feature of this part of the forum the type of badge you are looking at to see previous threads. This is where you should start, lots of good information in the past threads to give you a solid background in what has been said before.

For example, you could type in "RK sub badge" and you will find many posts that will give you much information in the determination of a badge's authenticity.

I really think everyone should do this first, really helps if you like doing research, since the research is a big part of this hobby in my opinion, not just the badge itself.

Hello,
Those were badges produced in Formosa for German seamen serving in those waters after WWII.

Actually they are like everyone else said-bad!
